AB014. Simultaneous or staged surgical management of synchronized lung tumor and coronary artery disease—a single-center experience

Background: To present the early postoperative and the long-term results of simultaneous or staged surgical management of lung tumor resection and coronary artery disease.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed a total of 3,123 patients who underwent cardiac surgery in our cardiothoracic department from January 2009 to September 2016, searching for patients who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) with concomitant lung tumor resection. We reported the surgical method, the extent of resection, the histological type and both the early postoperative and long term results.

Results: Nine males presented in our cardiothoracic department with concomitant lung tumor and coronary artery disease that necessitated CABG. Simultaneous CABG and lung tumor resection performed in 3 pts.

Conclusions: Similar results have been reported in either simultaneous or staged method according to our experience with 9 patients. In simultaneous approach less mechanical ventilation hours and less ICU days have been reported
