Background: In this project we have studied 10,000 patients of the Respiratory clinic regarding the characteristics of gender, age, origin and disease/illness with which the patients were admitted in the clinic.

Methods: In order to acquire this information, we have used the e-file of Larissa’s University’s Hospital Respiratory Clinic, in which 10,000 patients were in record without choice, during the time 2000–2016. After the patients were divided according to their characteristics (gender, age, origin, illness), we have constructed tables and diagrams that show the evolution of each attribute in the hospital during the period mentioned.

Results: Our study showed that 60% of the clinic’s patients derived from Larissa while from each of the other prefectures of Thessaly derived only 10%. Our data also showed us that 2/3 of patients are male and that in the age range 60–90 years belonged 70–80% of the patients. Regarding the diseases 19% of patients were admitted for diagnostic purposes, while from pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and asthma suffered 5%, 4% and 3% of the patients in each case. Also the death rate of hospitalized patients was ranged in 5.7%.

Conclusions: The Pulmonary Clinic of the University Hospital of Thessaly treats every year more than 1,200 patients, most of which are male and elders.
