Michael W.Kattan, Ph.D. is Chairman of the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at The Cleveland Clinic and Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.  Dr. Kattan holds a Ph.D. in management information systems with a minor in statistics. He also holds an MBA with concentration in quantitative sciences.  With over 500 peer-reviewed publications, he is best known for his prediction models, called nomograms.  Dr. Kattan received several awards for his contributions to medical decision-making, including the John M. Eisenberg Award for Practical Applications of Medical Decision Making Research (SMDM) 2013, and the Cleveland Clinic Sones Innovation Award in 2016.  Dr. Kattan was awarded The Dr. Keyhan and Dr.Jafar Mobasseri Endowed Chair for Innovations in Cancer Research in 2017.

He is interested in the development, validation, and use of prediction models.  He has developed several such models and released them as freely available software, from www.nomograms.org and rcalc.ccf.org
