Kongjia Luo, MD, PhD (Thoracic Oncology)

Kongjia Luo is a visiting staff in the department of Thoracic Surgery, Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center at Guangzhou in China. After completion of MD and PhD in oncology from Sun Yat-Sen University, he has been trained in advanced surgical techniques including thoracic, thoracoscopic and endoscopic surgery at Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center since 2012. Dr. Luo holds special experience in endoscopic surgery to esophageal neoplasm, such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), submucosal tunneling endoscopic resection (STER) and esophageal stent. He is also familiar with the use of flexible thoracoscopy in diagnosing unknown pleural effusion. As a clinician investigator, he focuses on integrating multimodality approaches and translational researches in esophageal and lung cancer. He holds experience in biostatistics and clinical research as well. He has published a series of scientific articles on international acdemic journals (e.g., Ann Surg Oncol, Ann Thorac Surg, Br J Cancer, etc.). Now Dr. Luo services as the junior member of Guangdong Esophageal Cancer Institute (GECI), State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China and Collaborative Innovation Center for Cancer Medicine.
