Dr. Yao is a health services researcher with principal interests in the quality, effectiveness, and disparities of healthcare in cancer patients. He has worked extensively with large databases, including those from Medicare, SEER-Medicare, SEER, state cancer registry files, MEPS, NHIS, ARF, and clinical trial data. He uses econometric modeling, spatial analysis, and network analysis in his research. His research is supported by a R25 grant from National Cancer Institute and a research grant from the Rockefeller-endowed China Medical Board. He has also received a training grant from the Komen Foundation to train the next generation researchers in breast cancer disparities.
