Petra Popovics, PhD

Dr. Petra Popovics is a Research Associate at the Department of Urology at Case Western Reserve University. She received a Ph.D. in medical sciences at the University of St. Andrews, UK, and completed her postdoctoral training in the lab of Nobel Laurate Dr. Andrew V. Schally at the University of Miami, FL. Dr. Popovics significantly contributed to the development and testing of growth hormone-releasing hormone analogs for the treatment of various malignancies and chronic diseases. Her current work focuses on identifying inflammation-induced prostatic growth factors and determining their role in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Dr. Popovics has received a 2-year Scholarship and the Outstanding Graduate Scholar Award from the Urology Care Foundation, which is the official foundation of the American Urological Association. Dr. Popovics has significant experience in the area of hormonal signaling and benign urologic research.
