Joanna Domagala-Kulawik, Professor of Medicine, Medical University of Warsaw, Poland
Prof. Domagala-Kulawik is medical doctor, specialist in internal diseases, pathomorphology and chest diseases. She received the Ph.D. degree at the Medical University of Warsaw. Her professional life is connected with Department of Internal Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy. She received training in internal medicine at the Department of Hypertension, the training in pathology in Oncology Institute, Warsaw as well in Germany and France. In 1996 prof. Domagala-Kulawik organized a Cytopathology Laboratory at the Department of Internal Diseases, Pulmonary Diseases and Allergy and was a chief of this Lab. In 2013 she became Professor of Medicine. Her professional occupation is connected with medical practice, didactic and research. The main field of research is pulmonary cytopathology, immunology of lung cancer, influence of smoking on immune system. She is an author of Atlas of Pulmonary Cytology, Polish Recommendation for processing of brochoalveolar lavage (BAL) and Polish Recommendation for processing of induce sputum. Prof. Domagala-Kulawik published about two hundreds articles, book chapters, her IH is 13. Currently she conducts three projects concerning biomarkers for immunotherapy of lung cancer. She is an active member of Polish and international societies: Polish Respiratory Society, European Respiratory Society and Polish Society of Immunology. Prof. Domagala-Kulawik organizes scientific and medical exchange between Poland and France. She is active in the scientific committees in meetings and conferences of these societies. She cooperates as a member of editorial boards with international scientific journals.
