Having trained and worked in Australia, Ireland, the UK and the USA, Alicia Jenkins is a Professor of Diabetes and Vascular Medicine at the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney and provides clinical care as an endocrinologist at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. She has NHMRC Practitioner and Sydney Medical Foundation Fellowships. Her particular interests are the prediction and prevention of diabetes complications, vascular risk factor control and the use of technology, including insulin pumps and sensors in diabetes care. She is a PI on the REMOVAL (metformin) and FAME-1 Eye (fenofibrate) trials in Type 1 diabetes and works with other major diabetes trials, including FIELD, the DCCT/EDIC and VADT trials. She has over 25 years of research experience in clinical and laboratory science and has over 330 publications. Alicia is on the Boards of diabetes charities (Insulin For Life and the IDF Life For a Child Program) that provide diabetes care via clinics in disadvantaged countries and is also on the IDF Western Pacific Executive Council.
