Zhongyang Zhang, PhD
Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, Icahn Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, USA
Dr. Zhongyang Zhang received his B.S. in Information and Computing Science and M.S. in Probability and Mathematical Statistics from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and Ph.D. in Statistics from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. He is currently Assistant Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. He is interested in developing statistical methods and bioinformatics tools for the analysis of high-throughput genetics and genomics data. He has developed a series of methods for copy number variant (CNV) analysis, including Piet and ensembleCNV for detecting and genotyping germline CNVs, and SAAS-CNV for quantifying somatic copy number alteration (SCNA) in cancer genome. Dr. Zhang also takes charge of genetics and genomics data analysis in collaborative research projects related to liver cancer, diabetes, psychiatric diseases, Moebius syndrome and related disorders, kidney diseases, and other diseases.
