Pengda Liu, PhD
Assistant Professor, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
As a PI on several NIH and UNC funded grants, Dr. Liu's research interest is focused on understanding how dysregulation of key cell signal transduction pathways, especially the mTOR/Akt signaling, contributes to different types of cancers, with the ultimate goals to identify potential drug targets and develop therapeutic agents and strategies to combat cancer.
His area of expertise includes growth signaling mediated regulation of cell growth, survival, metabolism and genome stability. In addition, He has expertise in elucidating molecular regulatory mechanisms for enzymes including protein kinases and E3 ubiquitin ligases and their substrates. He has also expertise in the studies of protein post-translational modifications, protein-protein interactions, and protein-DNA/RNA interactions.
