I am trained and board certified in the fields of Clinical Informatics, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, and Critical care Medicine. I currently hold academic rank as Associate Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Medical Education; I serve as a consultant in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and also Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. I direct Critical Care Internal Medicine fellowship program. My research interest is focused on the fields of acute kidney injury, acid-base and electrolytes, renal replacement therapies, fluid management, simulation medicine, point-of-care ultrasonography, Clinical informatics, and education. I played a significant role in the discovery and validation of two novel biomarkers of acute kidney injury (TIMP2 and IGFBP7), the definition of “Sarcopenia Index,” and created an electronic surveillance tool to detect AKI early in ICU. I provide lectures regarding AKI, education, fluid management in ICU across the globe. He has published 83 peer-reviewed papers and written 8 book chapters.
