Maria Rodriguez, MD, FEBTS (Thoracic Surgery)

Maria Rodriguez is currently a Thoracic Surgery Fellow at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was trained in General Thoracic Surgery in Salamanca University Hospital, where apart from performing a considerable number of procedures, she started defining her main areas of interest, which are: lung cancer, esophageal and mediastinum diseases and minimally invasive approaches to them.

She completed her training with rotations in different renowned institutions: Aahrus University Hospital (Pectus Excavatum), MSKCC (Thoracic oncology), University of Chicago (Esophageal surgery) and AKH Wien (Lung Transplantation).

She is also interested in professional training and development, preoperative risk evaluation, patient management standardization measures and quality audit of surgical outcomes. Her research projects have been included in the Brompton and Young Investigator’s award sessions in previous ESTS meetings.

She is currently member of the ESTS, EACTS, SEPAR (Spanish Society of Respiratory Pathology) and SECT (Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery).

She likes also travelling, painting and cultural shows.
