Francesca Giampieri, PhD (Biochemistry)

Dr. Francesca Giampieri was born in Ancona (Italy) on November the 18th, 1979. She has taken the degree in Biological Sciences in 2007, the PhD in “Nutrition, health and drug” in 2013 and the specialization in Food Sciences in 2014. She currently serves as post-doctoral researcher at the Department of Clinical Sciences, Polytechnic University of Marche, Ancona (Italy).

As regards the scientific activity, she has published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals. She is currently reviews scientific articles for several peer-reviewed journals, serves as the Associate editor for Journal of Berry Research, Journal of Alzheimer’s disease, Antioxidants and as the Guest editor for International Journal of Molecular Science and Nutrients.

The main areas of her research focus on the role of antioxidants and bioactive compounds present in different food matrices on oxidative stress and on the modulation of several genes involved in antioxidant defenses, metabolism, cell survival and proliferation, inflammation and related disorders.
