Shuben Li, PhD (Thoracic Surgery)

Associate Professor of Thoracic Surgery, First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, Guangzhou, China

Dr. Li is the vice group leader of Thoracic Surgery Youth Committee of Guangdong Medical Doctor Association and the member of the Standing Committee of Thoracic Surgery of Guangdong Hospital Management Association.

Dr. Li is specialized in minimal invasive thoracoscopic surgery. He is in charge of a number of researches and studies in the field of uniportal thoracoscopy under spontaneous anesthesia.  As one of the major contributors, he was rewarded with Second Prize of Guangzhou Progress Prize in Scientific and Collective Technology and the First Prize of Guangdong Progress Prize in Scientific and Collective Technology in 2012 and 2015 respectively.

His major achievements are: 1. In May 2015, Dr. Li published world’s first report on uniportal needlscopy VATS via spontaneous anesthesia in Chinese Journal of Cancer Research; 2. In October 2015, he published the first report of Tubeless VATS daily operation in thoracic surgery in Chinese Journal of Surgery. The involved techniques minimize the invasiveness of thoracic surgery and acclerate the recovery of postoperative patients. The duration of postoperative hospital stay is decreased and postoperative patients could be discharged within 24 hours after surgery.
