Dr. Tanya N Turan was trained in Neurology and Vascular Neurology at Emory University, in Atlanta GA, and was recruited to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 2008 as an Academic Clinician. She is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Stroke Division. Dr. Turan has served on the Executive Committee of several multi-center NIH-funded trials (SAMMPRIS and CREST-2) and is a leader in stroke prevention research, known for her work in large artery atherosclerosis and high-resolution MRI of the intracranial arteries. She has published over 60 papers and has presented her research at national and international conferences. She participates in multiple national committees, and is particularly involved with the American Heart/Stroke Association.
