A total of 70% of the burden of dengue infection is seen in resource poor countries in Asia, where it is a significant public health problem. Although a recently concluded phase 3 trial of a dengue vaccine in Asia, showed that the vaccine was safe and highly immunogenic, its overall efficacy was 56.5% (2).
