Therapeutic potential of vascular stem cells for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is well known to have poor potential healing when injured. Most surgical procedures for ACL reconstruction (ACLR) using hamstring tendon grafts require tendon-bone healing and graft maturation, however, the tendon-bone attachment is the weakest area in the surgically created bone tunnel in the early post-operative period. Therefore, acquiring secure tendon-bone integration is an essential task for earlier rehabilitation program and earlier return to work and sports.
