Toxicity of pelvic nodal radiation for localized prostate cancer

Waqar Haque, E. Brian Butler, Bin S. Teh

Abstract

External beam radiation therapy (EBRT) is a definitive treatment modality for patients with localized prostate cancer (1). The entire prostate is included within the treatment field for all patients receiving EBRT for prostate cancer. EBRT along with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is recommended for patients with unfavorable intermediate- or high-risk disease, with national guidelines recommending a consideration of pelvic nodal irradiation for this subset of higher risk patients (1).
