Autoimmune diseases (AD) are complex diseases characterised by alteration of the immune system and production of autoantibodies. Their pathogenesis is multifactorial since both the environment and genetic factors are involved. They present a large variability in the presentation of symptoms, the course of diseases and the clinical complications.
